Michael Wilbon: For close to six months now one of the greatest wrestling companies in history has been off the airwaves. Once the pinacle of the industry, World Pro Wrestling went dark in August of 2007 and has re-opened it's doors twice in the past two years. One man who could be attributed to this is with us now and we welcome Mike Storm for 'Five Good Minutes'. Mike, welcome.
Mike Storm: Thanks guys and cheers for that nice and fiery introduction.
Tony Kornheiser: Mike, you've been away from the spotlight for quite some time now but the 'roomers' are that you're looking to re-enter the world of professional wrestling again.
Mike Storm: Well I guess you could say that I've never been away from the game. You never are and you keep track of what's been going on around the world.
Michael Wilbon: But there is talk of you being in contact with the WpW, no?
Mike Storm: I don't think you could really say that. More so I have contacted the WpW with an expression of interest in seeing if a deal can be worked out. As of right now I am yet to hear a response but as it's non-stop industry, I'm can understand the wait.
Tony Kornheiser: So with the WpW dark as of right now, who is it that you've contacted.
Mike Storm: I'm sure you know as many else do that Ryansup is the head of the WpW so he's the man to talk to. I've let the previous producer Benjamin Silverman of my intentions also.
Michael Wilbon: What is it exactly that you've put on the table?
Mike Storm: Well my profession is to produce shows and that's what I want to work with the WpW to do. Not many would know but I was a one-off producer for Elevation: New Mexico, a show that I am quite proud of. It was a show that was focused purely on hyping up the upcoming pay-per-view which I think was done quite successfully. I believe it was a show that I could produce to the fans of the WpW on a weekly if not fortnightly basis.
Tony Kornheiser: It's no secret that you have had a shaky relationship with the WpW management over the past year or so. Is this something that will affect this offer?
Mike Storm: I would certainly hope not. One man that I hope eased the tension was an unlikely figure in the old-timer Joel Thunder. He's a man I've known for a long time and even managed for a brief period of time in the 90s. He came here and showed he was a WpW man and helped me reconnect a little through him. Away from that I'm a man who doesn't reflect too much on the past and I have personally turned a new chapter in my life and am focusing my attention now on bringing the WpW back.
Michael Wilbon: Forgive me for asking, but what trust can they hold in you?
Mike Storm: Absolute. Absolute trust from me is all that can be expected and I hope for nothing but the same from all of those they I meet inside and outside of professional wrestling. Not that I am in contract talks but I have put forward a stipulation that I am more than happy to follow and that is I would be put purely on that of the Board of Directors watch. I would abide by their rules and be accountable to have my duties terminated at their consent. Of course I would put forward my own ideas as is the job of a producer but at the end of the day the last say is with them.
Tony Kornheiser: What can we expect from you if you took these duties?
Mike Storm: I'm not going to spill the beans just yet but in the broader sense I strongly believe that I could bring 26 fortnightly events over the next year to the WpW fans to tune into. Four of these would be the big pay-per-views that I would strive to have record buys in and the other 22 would be purely based to hype the hell out of these pay-per-views. I want every single match on the pay-per-view card to have a rich build up so that the fans can't wait to grab their mother's credit card, work a little overtime or break into their neighbours house just to buy it.
Tony Kornheiser: Mike it's been a pleasure having you on the show and unfortunately we've run out of time but we wish you all the best in whatever comes of this.
Mike Storm: Thanks guys. And hey! Anyone out there who can get me in contact with the big guy of the WpW, let me know!
Michael and Tony laugh and Mike Storm's feed gets cut as they move to the next segment of the show. Mike takes his studio equipment off, thanks the ESPN crew and heads out the door. As he's walking towards the exit his phone begins to ring and he answers it.
Mike Storm: One interview in years and now everyone wants a piece? Sure, I'll come on your radio show if you want.
