CARNAGE BOWL DAY ONE MAIN EVENT
WINNER IS KING OF CARNAGE BOWL - DEFENDS IN GAUNTLET TOMORROW:
Ares vs. GRENDEL
(“Forest” by System of a Down plays as Ares comes out to a huge pop.)
MI: Ares claimed the King of Carnage title for almost killing Grendel in their Niagara Falls confrontation, then held onto the title by beating Stevie Nixx in the greatest technical match in Carnage Bowl history!
LN: Grendel beat Ares in the Cemetery Match at Carnage Bowl 2001 to take away the King of Carnage title, but Ares looks intent to reclaim the title!
(Ares gets into the ring and plays up to the crowd. “More Human Than Human” by White Zombie plays as Grendel comes out carrying the King of Carnage trophy)
LN: Here comes another living legend!
(Grendel enters the ring and holds the trophy up and hands it over to the ref who shows it to Ares and then signals for the bell)
MI: Our main event tonight is underway!
LN: This should be a great one!
MI: The two men shake hands and then go to tie-up, Ares ducks to avoid the bigger man! Grendel turns, and Ares grabs his leg and takes him down! Ares is on Grendel’s back and hooks on a chinlock. Grendel is quickly up and takes Ares against the ropes and whips him in…Grendel with a hip-toss! Another hiptoss by Grendel! Ares is up, but Grendel side-steps a charging Ares, and the momentum carries Ares up and over the top rope to the floor!
LN: OOOH!
MI: Ares hits the floor hard! Grendel steps out of the ring and rolls Ares back in and re-enters the ring. Grendel pulls Ares up and whips him in and catches him and delivers a backbreaker! He lifts Ares back up in that same position and plants him with a sidewalk slam!
LN: OUCH!
MI: Grendel bounces off of the ropes….and Ares moves out of the way of an elbowdrop attempt! Grendel gets up, favoring his arm. Ares is quickly up and whips Grendel in….dropkick! Ares grabs Grendel’s arm and gets him in an armbar.
LN: Ares has to keep the big man off of his feet!
MI: Well, as soon as you said that, Grendel gets up to his feet and backs Ares into the ropes and scoops him up and slams him, but Ares hangs onto Grendel’s arm and rolls him over with the armbar still hooked on!
LN: Great roll-through by Ares!
MI: Ares keeps cranking on Grendel’s arm, applying pressure. Grendel is up to one knee, now up to his feet. He backs Ares into the corner. The ref calls for the break, and Ares obliges. Grendel quickly latches on a standing sideheadlock and takes Ares down. 1….2….Ares gets his shoulder up. Now Ares works himself up to his feet and backs Grendel in and whips him in….Ares goes for a cross-body, but Grendel catches him and plants him with a hard bodyslam! Grendel covers him….1….2….kick out! Grendel grabs Ares and gets him in a chinlock. Ares is becoming winded with his air supply being cut off. Ares is trying to work himself up…He is up to one knee….he reaches back and grabs a hold of Grendel’s leg and tries to take him down, but Grendel keeps the chinlock hooked on, and rolls through.
LN: Now Grendel has most of his weight on Ares will applying the hold! Ares gotta get Grendel off!
MI: Ares tries to position himself out from under Grendel and does so, getting back into a sitting position. Grendel cranks Ares’ head back at the same time planting a knee in the middle of Ares’ back! The ref is moving in to see if Ares has had enough, but Ares is waving off the ref. Ares is trying to get to his feet. You can tell by the look on his face that he is in pain. Ares is up and reaches back and grabs a hold of Grendel’s head….JAWBUSTER!
LN: That’s one way to break it!
MI: Both men are down! Ares is winded, Grendel is stunned! Ares is up and is working out the kinks in his back. Grendel is up…Ares rushes in and leaps…Fame-Ass-Eur on the big man! Ares rolls Grendel over….1….2…..kick out!
LN: Wow! That was a variation of the Halo Drop!
MI: Ares rushes into the ropes and hits a kneedrop right to the middle of Grendel’s chest. Cover…1…2….kick out! Ares pulls Grendel up and whips him in….drop toe hold into a STF!
LN: NICE!
MI: The ref is seeing if Grendel is giving it in, but it’ll take a lot more to put away the big man! Grendel is crawling over and latches onto the bottom rope! The ref calls for the break, and Ares does so. Ares immediately gets up and grabs a hold of Grendel’s leg and pulls him back into the middle of the ring. He plants a knee into the middle of Grendel’s back and grabs a hold of Grendel’s left arm and head and cranks back while having Grendel’s leg grapevined with his own!
LN: Nice submission maneuver!
MI: Grendel is shaking off the ref. Ares really has this William Regal-like maneuver cinched on the bigger foe! Grendel is trying to fight off Ares and get to his feet, but is unable to do so. He is trying to push off the mat with his free hand. He does and tries to roll, but Ares rolls with him and has the move still cinched on…Ares’ shoulders are on the mat….1….2….Ares rolls back over!
LN: Ares almost committed figurative suicide!
MI: I’ll say! Ares is trying to make Grendel submit with this submission, or, at least, wear down the big man! Ares breaks the hold and pulls both of Grendel’s arms back and plants his foot in the middle of Grendel’s back….SURFBOARD!
LN: Another submission!
MI: Ares is certainly keeping the big man grounded! Ares breaks the hold and bounces off of the ropes and dropkicks Grendel in the back! Ares rolls Grendel over…1…2…kick out! He pulls Grendel up and whips him in….OOOH! Grendel holds onto the ropes as Ares attempted a dropkick and Ares hits the ground hard!
LN: Uh-oh!
MI: Grendel bounces off of the ropes and connects with an elbow to Ares’ chest. Cover…1….2…kick out! Grendel pulls Ares up and knees him in the midsection, followed by a double-axehandle to the back and a kick to the rib area. Grendel stands over his stablmate. Ares is getting to his knees, but Grendel jumps and comes down with all his weight down on Ares’ back!
LN: So far, both men have taken a slow, methodical pace, almost trying to be conservative in their approach!
MI: Grendel pulls Ares up and whips him in…knee to the gut, sending Ares flipping to the mat. Ares sits up and Grendel grabs Ares from behind with the Dragon Sleeper!
LN: Out of nowhere, this could be it!
MI: Ares is trying to fight it off, trying to get up to his feet, but Grendel got it locked on good! Ares reaches back and grabs Grendel’s head and rolls to the side, taking Grendel with him! Ares ends up on top of Grendel! 1….2….shoulder up!
LN: WOW! WHAT A COUNTER!
MI: Grendel still has a hold of Ares, but Ares leaps and plants a knee to the middle of Grendel’s chest, breaking the hold! Ares rolls off of Grendel and tries to regain his breath and recoup. Ares is up and rushes in on Grendel, who is in a sitting position and hits a rolling snapmare! Ares with a quick cover…1….2….kick out! Ares is right on top of Grendel with a leg scissors!
LN: What a great old school contest!
MI: What would you expect in a match featuring two of the biggest names in the history of this profession for the King of Carnage title?!
LN: Plus, they are part of the Old School stable!
MI: Ares is trying to cut off Grendel’s air supply now. Grendel is up to his knees and shakes Ares off of him. Grendel grabs Ares legs, but Ares wiggles out of his grasp and jumps to his feet. The two stare each other down as the crowd claps for both men!
LN: YEAH!
MI: Grendel and Ares shake hands once again! They circle each other and tie up. Grendel shoves Ares away, sending him into the ropes…Ares with a springboard crossbody off of the second rope! 1….2…Grendel kicks out! Ares is quickly up and small packages Grendel….1…2….kick out! No both are up to their feet at the same time! They tie up once again. Grendel with a standing sideheadlock. Ares whips him in…Ares with a leapfrog…
LN: OOOH!
MI: Ares went for another leapfrog, but Grendel catches him out of midair and plants him with a spinebuster! Cover…1….2…SHOULDER UP!
LN: WOW! BARELY!
MI: Grendel is up and pulls Ares up and scoops him….fallaway slam! Ares has to be winded! Grendel pulls Ares back up and shoves him chest-first into the ropes and nails him in the small of the back with a forearm! Ares falls to his knees. Grendel pulls him up and hooks his head back….CURTAIN CALL! Cover…1……2….SHOULDER UP!
LN: Again, barely!
MI: Grendel looks a bit disgusted. He pulls Ares up and whips him into the corner. He rushes in…Ares moves, and Grendel crashes into the post shoulder-first! Grendel staggers out. Ares grabs a hold of his head and climbs to the second rope…TORNADO DDT!
LN: OH YEAH!
MI: Both men are on the mat, exhausted! Grendel is dazed and Ares is too winded to take advantage of it!
LN: What a match!
MI: Ares is slowly getting up and covers Grendel…1….2…kick out! Ares gets up off of Grendel slowly. He pulls Grendel up and grabs him by the head once again. He’s going up to the second rope once again.
