// Chris Lee works his way through the throng of people in the main terminal of Hawaii’s Honolulu International Airport. As is the case in July, a tremendous amount of people are coming to and leaving the beautiful islands. While most are there on vacation, Lee is on the island for business. Serious business.\\
// “The Icon” draws little attention as he weaves amongst the crowd. He’d, frankly, prefer it that way. A few steps from the exit, a young fan approaches the former WpW Big Gold champion. \\
// Wearing a Hawaii Warrior t-shirt, the youngster can’t be any older than 12. He speaks in a frantic burst. \\
Kid: Mr. Lee, sir, can…can I get your autograph?
// Lee smiles at the young man as he takes the ball cap from his hand. \\
Lee: I’d love to man.
// Lee scribbles his name on the cap and places it back on the kids head. The youngster is beaming as he thanks “The Icon”. \\
Kid: Thanks Mr. Lee! Good luck on Tuesday!
// Lee smiles and nods, before moving briskly through the exit of the airport. \\
// Several hours later, a YouTube video is uploaded to Lee’s personal account. With his return to World Pro Wrestling just days away, “The Icon” is trending topic on Twitter and virtually every other social networking service. With such attention, the video quickly garners a number of hits. \\
// The video begins with clips of Lee’s previous World Pro Wrestling stints, both in-ring and out. After about two minutes of looking back, the scene fades and reappears in gorgeous Hawaii.\\
// The live portion of the video is set on the balcony of a sprawling Honolulu hotel, the Kealohilani Tower at the Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. The view is of the beautiful Pacific and white-sand beaches of Waikiki. Lee rests, relaxed in a reclining chair. The film was obviously shot by Lee with a small camera, thus the quality isn’t great. Even so, the sound is crisp and clear…down to the sound of chirping birds in the background. \\
Lee: Hello YouTube!
“The Icon” has arrived in gorgeous Hawaii and is anxiously awaiting Tuesday and GoldPush 55 from the Stan Sheriff Center . I’m excited, no doubt. The opportunity to enter the ring professionally again, it’s a thrilling idea. Even after the knee surgery, the time away…I feel great.
I’ll undoubtedly feel better when I, for the second time, win World Pro Wrestling’s All-Time TV Title. Regrettably, the win won’t come against much competition. The current title holder, Sebastian, embarrassed the company in Tokyo with his pathetic display against…or with…Lucy U. He tarnished a title that has been defended more than any other. He pissed on a championship that has been held by some of the premier performers in the industry. Then he went and danced around with his little ‘New Era’ buddies…golly gee I’m the TV champ!
Pathetic.
Fear not, fans…I’m here to restore order to World Pro Wrestling, to, once again, put an emphasis on the in-ring action that helped put WpW on-top of the professional wrestling industry. I guess Sebastian would refer to that as being “old school”.
// Lee straightens up in the chair, pausing a few moments before continuing. \\
Word is quickly spreading regarding my return to WpW. Its all over the internet, industry magazines…you name it. I’m asking all of…each and every Chris Lee fan out there…to tune in to GoldPush on Tuesday night. I’m well aware there is very little to be proud of right now in World Pro Wrestling. You’ve got a first-class dumbass serving as the face of the organization in Firebomb, a career also-ran in SST holding the Big Gold belt, and a prime example of all that is wrong with wrestling’s ‘New Era’ in Sebastian. I know its tough right now, difficult to get behind this organization. I ask that you put your faith in me. I ask that you put your trust in me…trust that I can get it back on track. While I may not be ‘New Era’, I am still one of the best in the business…still World Pro Wrestling’s most violent man…and soon to be All-Time TV champion.
// Lee gazes out towards the Pacific, taking in its beauty. \\
For some, especially this time of year, Hawaii is nothing but a destination. For me, it’s a new beginning. I’m not trying to bring a ‘New Era’ to WpW. I’m not trying to be Sebastian or Firebomb. I’m just going to give you, the fans, every last drop I’ve got. I’m going to give you a show, a match, an effort that you can, without question, be proud of. I’m going to give you the start of one of the most impressive title reigns that WpW has ever seen.
You still have doubts…reservations? Tune in Tuesday night, I’ll show you something you’ll never forget.
// Lee reaches for the camera as the screen shakes a bit. Seconds later, the view goes black. Perhaps this YouTube clip is the last we’ll hear from Lee until GoldPush…perhaps this is just the beginning. \\
